After Sunset

For the fourth edition of our irregular Cinema Club, I've picked fifteen films that are the epitome of summer in one way or another. From Georgine Darcy's tiny, twirling waist in Hitchcock's Rear Window to Jane Birkin poolside, each of these titles offers an escape worthy of an afternoon spent blissfully out of office.

  • Comte d’été by Éric Rohmer
  • Before Sunrise and Before Sunset by Richard Linklater
  • La Piscine by Jacques Deray
  • Bonjour Tristesse by Otto Preminger
  • Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock
  • Green Ray by Éric Rohmer
  • Dazed and Confused by Richard Linklater
  • Badlands by Terrence Malick
  • The Graduate by Mike Nichols
  • Streetcar Named Desire by Elia Kazan
  • Nuit d’été en ville by Michel Deville
  • Do The Right Thing by Spike Lee
  • Summer Lovers by Randal Kleiser
  • Near Orouet by Jacques Rozier
