Giardino Segreto
Like a flower, glass must be protected and paid special attention to in order to survive. It’s this matter of vulnerability that makes it so precious in object form, full of awe and improbability at the hands of a glassblower.
Last summer, we quietly debuted a bespoke collection of vases and candle holders entitled ‘Giardino Segreto’ or the Secret Garden. Excitingly, these pieces are now available to order.
I was inspired to delve into the world of sculpting glass and developing these floral motifs while wandering around the Medieval Art Museum in Paris. Ornament and flowers all around, I realized that this ephemeral beauty has transfixed us humans forever, and we’ve always tried to find ways of capturing it. During the renaissance, the Giardino Segretos were secret enclosures within a garden. A place to have an individual, personal relationship with the garden and its flowers. In a sense, this is what I tried to recreate with this series.
